Abortion In Rockford, IL. A New Low!

Today is a sad day for me. I've learned that Fr. B is being resigned to  a new parish several miles away. :(. On the way out he asked "Have you seen it in the blogosphere today?".  I replied "No, Father I haven't been on yet today".

He said it's there the pictures and everything and I think this time it will make national news. You see the local abortion clinic has hatred for those that choose to stand outside in front of the clinic in prayer.  They have posted horrible things in the windows of the clinic before as I have shared here on this blog and in videos on my website.

Well the clinic employees have hit a new low. They, the employees, have taped signs to Father's car saying "I Rape Children" and they have also egged his car. All because he has chosen to publicly pray in front of this abortion clinic while it's in operation. More details about this story can be seen on Fr. Z's Blog, including pictures! (Warning, the signs may not be suitable for young children)

In a few short weeks Fr. B will be moving to his new parish and I'm afraid that the abortion clinic employees will think they have "won", because I'm sure they'll will have noticed Father's absent. When in reality he just moved! Please Pray! Please share this story!

EDIT ADD: Father's new assignment has nothing really to do with what happen at the abortion clinic. It's just our diocese regularly moves priest every few years and it just so happens to be the time for Father to be moved. Of course this is always at the Bishop's discretion. Sometimes they move sooner sometimes they move later.  I only mention it because I'm sure the abortion clinic will notice he's no longer there when his move takes place.

What Is A Twinkie? Did we learn that in school?

"What is a twinkie?" That is what Superstar asked today! We were at the bank and DH asked the kids, "Do you want to go in the bank with me today? They have free twinkies"

So that's what caused Superstar to ask what's a twinkie. In response to Superstar question DH said "Well come in [the bank] with me and find out". He then turned to Web-Princess and said "Come on Honey, you too." So Web-princess climbed out and as she did I could hear her say "Yeah, Daddy what's a twinkie?"

As they all went in I sat there in the car and thought to myself. "Wow, We (my husband and I) are terrible parents. My 9 and 8 year olds don't know what a twinkie is!! OUCH!

After the bank we went to walmart so the kids could buy some things they have been "saving" up for. At the register the cashier asked Web-princess how old are you, because she did a really good job of counting out the money.

I told Web-princess it's okay you can tell her how old you are. So web-princess told her she was 8. Then the cashier asked her if she learned that [counting money] in school.

Web-princess then put her hand to her chin, and started to rub it. She's thinking and all of the sudden she turns to me and ask "Well did we learn that in school?" "Yes we learned that.", I replied.   All the while I'm THINKING "Duh!" LOL So I guess that means I'm failing on the homeschool front too! LOL

Looking for Sewing 101 Help! Please

So Mother's Day I was given what I believe to be a very nice sewing machine. Especially seeing I do NOT know how to sew. It is something I've been wanting to do. It was one of those circler things. I don't' know how to sew, so why spend the money on a sewing machine? I can't learn how to sew if I don't have a sewing machine? See the circle?

Anyway so I have this new sewing machine, but I'm totally clueless on how to use it. I would like to learn. This was brought to light again today when I spotted patterns at Goodwill for 10 cents. I so wanted to get it, but seeing I'm clueless and don't know what I'm doing I stopped myself.

So I'm asking my followers, some of whom I KNOW can sew because I've seen it on your blogs!! How can THIS LEFTY learn?? (I threw the fact I'm a lefty out there because I've learn after 30 years that in some cases it makes a difference in "how" you are taught or do things).

Please help? And if you can't help please spread the word that this Mama is wanting to learn? Thanks everyone!!! (Oh and IF I had someone local I wouldn't be asking on the net).

Is it time for a Math Makeover?

From time to time I enjoy watching TED videos. The last TED video I shared on Catholic Christian Homeschooling was Ken Robinson's talk on education and creativity. Today's TED video comes from Math Teacher Dan Meyer.

Mr. Meyer believes that the way that math is taught in the USA is equivalent to the TV show 3 and Half Men. In short it's NOT good! The way we teach math needs a serious makeover! To understand where Mr. Meyer is coming from watch the following 12 minute TED video:

In the video Mr. Meyer mentions that the way he views math and expresses it on his blog landed him a spot on Good Morning America. According to his blog he also has most recently been on CNN. However I was unable to find a clip any where.

Rainbow Shash plans on Crashing In.

Nothing like having your Sunday Worship Service being disturb by a group of people that do not agree with your beliefs. In country where we have a freedom of religion, a group call Rainbow Sash has decided that they will crash and disrupt Mass @ several of the nations Cathedrals this Sunday May 23, 2010. WHY? Well they don't agree with the (Catholic) Church's stance on homosexual relationships.

Look if you don't like the teaching then go start your own church or join a church that teaches what you believe. Plan and simple, this is America we do have freedom of Religion. So There!

Just because you don't like what the Church teaches doesn't mean you have the right to disturb the worship services of hundreds of people that clearly have no issue with the teachings. If they had a issue they would not be there. DUH!

I just needed to call her!

I was on my way to the store and the phone kept ringing. It was my husband's phone but by the time I got to it the call had gone to voice mail.  I call back, but no one is answering. UGH! I then listen to the voice mail, it was Web-princess, talking about her allergy medicine and how she can't find it.

So I called back no one is answering. UGH. I'm thinking she has medicine, a whole bottle, surely she doesn't need more right? The phone rings, I answer, it's Web-princess, "Mom I can't find my allergy medicine. I looked in the cupboard, but I can't find it." I tell her that it should be there let me talk to daddy. She said okay and the phone goes click! UGH she hung up on me.

I call again, no one answers. My phone rings again it's Web-princess. Daddy said to call you back because he's mowing. Now I'm really confused.... I tell her to give the phone to Dad and let me talk to him.  DH gets on the phone, I inquire about Web-princess' allergy medicine. He's not sure what's going on. I tell him Web-princess has been calling me because she can't find her allergy medicine.

The next thing I hear is DH giving Web-princess a stern talking too. He's telling her "You are NOT old enough to give yourself medicine". Then he turns his conversation to me and says "I don't know what she was thinking. I'm sorry she was bothering you." I tell him, it's okay, I didn't know what was going on. I didn't know if you told her to call because you thought I needed to get more or what.

On the way home I reflexed on this and thought about Karen and one of her latest blog entries regarding her 8 almost 9 year old daughter. (Karen's daughter is about 10-12 months older then Web-princess.) I thought to myself, what is worst a 8/9 year old thinking they can administer their own medication to themselves or 8/9 year old accidentally calling a foreign country? Honestly I don't know what is worst, they both are pretty bad in their own right.

Although I should add that once I got home I learned that she really didn't want to give herself the medication. She just, at that moment, thought it was important to know where it was and was disturbed that she couldn't find it.  Seeing that daddy was mowing she decided to call mom and ask about the medication. I just think she wanted to talk on the phone..... LOL (At least it was a local call LOL)

This Is Our Last Week!

First, I would like to say "Happy Mother's Day" to the majority of my readers. I know that most of you that visit this blog are mothers. So Happy Mother's Day. I hope it was a good day for you. It was a fanatic day for me! A day filled of wonderful gifts, plenty of laughter, and joys of family and friends. We went to Mass, went bowling, spent time at home, and visited with some friends. It was good day!

So as I was saying at the beginning of this post. This week is our last week. Superstar is the only one left with true book work. He should be finished with it this week.  Web-princess and I have been playing The Phonics Game.

I've been reading up on Dyslexia. We learned last November that Web-princess has convergence insufficiency. I have recently learned that 95% of the time if there is convergence insufficiency then there is dyslexia.  They, generally speaking, go hand in hand. (Which could also explain why a multi-sensory approach to reading is the best).

I'm learning a lot of things, what dyslexia is and what it is not. There is a LOT of misconceptions about dyslexia out there. However that's for another post. Even though we are finishing up. We will be starting Summer School in June. I think I'm slowly working my way to schooling "all year round".
