This week we are going to be doing a FREE At-Home-VBS program thanks to Holy Heroes. We are supper excited about this! Especially seeing our pen-pals will be doing the same VBS this week. They are in PA and we are in IL, but thanks to Holy Heroes and the internet we get to do VBS together. I got the first email for this week and as promise it was load with all kind of fun things for the kids to do. At the end of the week I'll post an update on how things went.
Now the General House Keeping: First you may have noticed that I changed the name of my blog to Catholic Christian Homeschooling. Catholic Christian Homeschooling reflects my url better and this is important seeing I'm considering getting my own custom domain. This isn't going to be any time supper soon, but it is something in the works. You may have also noticed the custom banner. That is something that I made with photoshop. I'm not very good with photoshop, but I'm happy with the results. I hope you like it.
Also, in the right hand side bar you may have noticed the Yahoo Messenger Pingbox, that was added this weekend. This widget will allow my visitors to chat with me LIVE assuming I'm online when visitors are visiting my blog. If I'm online just enter in a nickname and start typing right there in the widget. I'll see your message and will type back assuming I'm not busy at that moment. :) Oh and it's a private chat (IM). This means the only people that can see the chat would be me and the visitor that I am chatting with.

UPDATE: Read More
Posted by
Nichole "Nikki" Warren
In my last post I talked about how I was editing the HTML so my post will have a read more feature. In that post I mention that I still needed to tweak the HTML, so that the read more feature would only show up on the post I wanted it to show up on. I also mention that I wasn't sure what it would do to my feed, after all I wanted my feed to stay full text.
Well I got code tweaked the best way that I can! NOW the read more link will only show up on the POST that I want it too. I thought that it would only show up on a post only if there was more then one post on the page, but that's not the cast. It shows up anytime I'm NOT on the post permalink, and only if I want that post to have the read more option. That's fine with me. It, also, DOES NOT effect the feed, so that's good!
In case you are wondering how I did this and how you can do the same then check out: Selective Expandable Post Summaries

I came across what I feel is a cool feature! It allows you to shorten LONG URLS! Not only do they become shorten but they are still usable! Try it out!

Questions about the feed?
Posted by
Nichole "Nikki" Warren
I've noticed that my readers and followers have slowly but surely grown over the last few months and I just want to take a moment to thank-you all for being here!
For those of you that are subscribed readers (subscribe to the feed) I wanted to know if I should leave the feed as a full text as it is now? 0r if a preview would be better?
I know whatever I do with the feed I WILL NOT add ads to it. I personally find feeds with ads to be annoying! So I won't go there. I'm just wondering if a preview might be better? Or if I should leave it full text as it is now? It's just something that I've been thinking about. So instead of just making a decision I thought I would get input from the subscribed readers. After all you are the ones reading so the change would effect you more then me!!
I've added A POLL to the blog just for this. It is located just ABOVE the posting here on the blog, so please take a moment to vote in the poll.
Seeing I just want votes, I'm closing the comments for this post.
Thank-you, everyone, for taking a moment to vote. Thank-you for taking a moment or 2 out of your busy days to even read my blog! I feel truly honored to have each and everyone of you here! After all this is just one small corner of the WWW, and well with everything that is out there it's humbling to know that there are people here too!
God Bless You All

Okay!!! I know it's not Easter yet...but I just finished up some virtual house-keeping! So I wanted to pop-in and say Hi to all of you before tomorrow (Ash Wednesday) comes!!
My blog got a face-lift thanks to the folks at the cutest blog on the block! I'm so HTML clueless!! And even though I liked my blog before with the 3 columns I wanted something with a little bit more of a spring-ish colors!! After all it will be April when I come back!! So now thanks to the cutest blog on the block, I can spice up my blog time to time and give it different back-grounds as the season or mood strikes me. I was able to ask them at cutest blog on the block to help me with the HTML coding (getting 3 columns). So Judy there is hope!!
Oh and I want to thank all of you for your kind words, thoughts, and prayers! Well this concludes my virtual house keeping! I will (virtually) see you all on Easter Monday!
God Bless,
SAHMinIL

The Pope And Youtube!
Posted by
Nichole "Nikki" Warren
Pope Benedict XVI is set to have his own dedicated channel on the popular video sharing website, YouTube.
That's the news I just got done reading. This could mean that my kids and I could have more access to the pope, via the internet and Youtube. I know there is a lot of things not worth our time on youtube, but I have a feeling this would be worth our time, and would be a good teaching tool to use for religion, faith, morals, etc.
I'm actually excited at the news! I hope that it does indeed turn out to be a good tool!!!

New Look! Perhaps I'll BE "Happy" Now!!
Posted by
Nichole "Nikki" Warren
Wow! I am so HTML clueless. I have been for months trying to get 3 columns on this blog. I don't know why, but I just feel like I can have more info with 3 column vs. 2. I also just like the way 3 columns look. I don't think I'll be doing this with my other blogs at least not at this time. LOL.
This is actually my SECOND homeschooling blog. I deleted my other one and started over because I messed up the HMTL so bad that things were a mess. I finally after months of looking found a copy and paste code that actually worked without messing up some of my other stuff!!!
I did have to go back and add some things one at a time, but over all I think I'm happy with the result. It's not exactly the format I was looking for so I may tweak it again. But for now I think it will do. I just happy to have been able to up grade to 3 columns!!!!
