Computer Programmer?

Do we have a computer programmer in the house? Superstar (who is not in the picture) is playing PS2. Web-Princess has made characters with paper, crayons, tape and pencils to "add" to the game.

Web-Princess is very proud of her "invention". When I went to take close up pictures of all 3 of her characters I got told "Take the picture of me. It's my invention".  So here is Web-Princess smiling face with one of her little characters!
I  instant message my husband this morning to tell him what the kids, especially Web-Princess, were up too! He told me I bet we could find a computer/game-programming class or program for them! I'm sure there is something in their age range out there.

Dear Readers,

Do any of you know of a programming program, book, how to, etc. that is geared to 7-10 year old?  If so I would greatly appreciate any input, recommendations, or suggestions. As you can see my daughter needs out of the stone age!!! She need the ability to make "real" programs. LOL

Actually, I'm impress with my daughters creativity and imagination. I really don't want to squash that!!! If you have suggestions on programming programs, classes, books, etc, PLEASE send them my way. In the mean time we will continue to use paper, crayons, boxes, and pencils.

Actually, knowing my kids they would still continue to do those things even if we did have something to teach them programming.

It's public television!

It's public television, or at least that's what my DD was calling it. It was a real hoot last night!

Yesterday we spent some times at my my grandparents house and they gave an OLD portable 5 inch black and white TV with AM/FM radio. We were not able to get the TV to pick up our local channels due to the DTV switch. (We had a feeling that it would be that way seeing all of our local channels have already switched)

DH had a bright idea to hook up the PS2 to the TV seeing it had audio/video port. We did it really as a joke but the kids ATE IT UP! They had a blast sitting in front of this little TV and playing their PS2. My DD (7) kept calling this TV the PUBLIC Television! Once the PS2 was hooked up to it she was no longer playing PS2, but PUBLIC games!

She kept saying over and over again "I'm playing PUBLIC games on the PUBLIC Television". Oh, my gosh DH and I had a HUGE belly laugh over this one, seeing we know what public television really is!!

For whatever reason she had it in her head that this was "public" television. Perhaps, because it's portable?? I don't know really but it was a great laugh.

Pictures of this moment can be seen on my website.

Wow! What A Moment!

Sometimes I'm amazed by what my kids do that I can't help but share.

DD (6) was playing PS2 with DH today. (He was home from work). While playing DD got a little bossy towards DH telling him what to do, how to play, etc. DS was in the room to and he made a comment on how DD being bossy was/is rude. So I immediately pulled DS (7) to the side, in the other room, and had a talk with him.

You see DS gets bossy with DD when he plays with her. So asked him why does he care what DD is saying to DH. He responded because it's rude to be that way, and it's annoying listening to that. I then shared with him that is how he sound when he plays with his sister.

DS right away became sad, his shoulders sunk, and he hung himself on me. So I wrapped my arms around him, scooped him up as best as I could, and just held him. After several moments I asked him why he was so sad. He responded with I should tell sis that I'm sorry. I asked for what and he said for being bossy while they play PS2 together.

So we went and told DD that he was sorry. After he said sorry, I had a talk with DS about not only saying it but showing it. He agreed that he has to try to show it and not just say it. WOW! He's only 7!
